Emma Evans
My name is Emma and I'm beyond excited to be bringing Bloom Baby Classes to South Somerset and Sherborne. I'm a proud mummy of 2 gorgeous boys aged 4 months and 4 years and have a BA HONS Degree in Early Childhood Studies.
I came across Bloom Baby Classes when my youngest was just 2 months old. Sat there at 3am, in virtual darkness, trying to keep him content and give my husband a bit of respite, I had been feeling lonely and a little bit lost. I had been made redundant 6 months prior and was facing a second redundancy immenently. I was reminsent of all the families I'd come across in my 15 years working in childcare, I knew this feeling of isolation was not uncommon and it would pass, I just needed to get out and start socialising.
When Bloom Baby Classes popped up, it was just what I was looking for; focused on parental wellbeing, bonding, baby development and sensory play.... What more could I ask for?! I quickly realised that Bloom Baby Classes ticked all the boxes not only as a parent looking for a baby development class but as a professional looking for my next career move. When I visited a Bloom class with my youngest I fell in love and so did my little one; we created the most wonderful memories in just 45 minutes and it was the first time he'd ever enjoyed tummy time!
The temporary feeling of lonliness and the coutless conversations I've encountered with parents who have had Post Natal Depression over the years has stuck with me. I used to work closely with Sure Start Children's Centres and saw first hand the difference they made to the lives of so many parents, the closures hit hard and I fear for families in my area that need supporting. For this reason I have decided to work closely with health professionals to offer 2 free places, for one term each, to parents with PND. Attending a new group can be daunting and I pride myself on ensuring everyone feels welcome and relaxed. I cannot wait to introduce you all to Bloom and help you create happy memories with your little ones!
